Dandelion

I know life is full of the changes we dread.
I know the most sincere promises can fade into oblivion.
I know ‘forever’ is a naïve belief.
I know I had been living in the unreachable past,
Replaying memories. The best of times.

But you took my hand when I was stumbling in the dark
And guided me back into the light of present Day.
You entered my world when I needed a light.
You made me see colours again
When (for what feels like forever) my world was in monochrome.

I was trapped in winter,
I clung to the cold,
I hid from the sun.

You heralded the spring,
You brought the warmth,
You reminded me the past is not a place,
But a person.

You’re the new dawn
Of the best times to come.
